In Pennabilli, on Friday 18 April, the Procession of the Jews revives the ancient representation of the Passion of Christ.

The entire mediaeval village is plunged into an atmosphere of times gone by, of rare and unique suggestion: the location, the dim lights in the night, the sounds, the rites, all add emotional force to this ancient, sacred performance.

The walk takes place in the mediaeval village, lit by lanterns, starting from the Church of the Misericordia and arriving at the monastery of the Augustinian Sisters perched on the heights of the Rupe in a truly solemn and evocative atmosphere created by fires and torches.

Together with the faithful in procession, figurants in period Roman costumes take part in the procession: the soldiers, the pious women, the Cyrenaeus, the hooded men, and Christ weighed down by the weight of the Cross. The procession is opened by Roman soldiers marching to the roll of drums.
